This course will improve recognition, knowledge and confidence around substance misuse.

Aim:

To build knowledge and confidence for identifying, understanding, and responding to a child who is living with a substance using parent.

From the aspect of the child, how this may affect them and what life is like for them.

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the impact of parental substance misuse on children and families
  • Identify risks, protective factors and indicators of harm
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with parents that use substances
  • Understand the cycle of change for parents and how this can affect children.
