Single Agency Safeguarding Training
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Safeguarding Partnership Board are committed to supporting the development and implementation of effective safeguarding training across the county. We are keen to support partners in this area; therefore, should you need any advice or support in developing single agency training please contact safeguardingboardstraining@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
The guidance and resources available on this page are designed to support agencies to keep their training up to date and include learning shared by the partnership boards.
Interagency Principles
The CPSPB have developed a set of inter-agency training principles to help guide agencies as to the fundamental elements required within safeguarding training to support professionals working with children, young people, and adults at risk.
All Safeguarding training is governed by the following inter-agency principles:
Child/Person Centred / Lived Experience of the Child/Adult
Training should reflect that the welfare of the child/adult at risk is paramount and that it incorporates and actively promotes the child’s/adult’s rights’, ‘voice’ and their ‘needs’. All adult safeguarding training should reflect the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP).
Partnership with Parents, Family and Carers
Training recognises and actively promotes the need for working in partnership and engaging with, where possible, parents, carers and family.
Diversity / Cultural Competence
Training is informed by and reflects the diversity and cultural needs of the individuals, communities and organisations within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Communication
Training will focus on shared information and communication between professionals to safeguard children and adults.
Interagency Collaboration
Training promotes the need for interagency working, bringing together people and organisations, to effectively safeguard children and adults
Evidence Based
Training will be ‘evidence based’, containing the latest research, reflective practice and the lessons learned from case reviews at a local and a national level
Validation of Training
Please note that, as of November 2022, the Board no longer validates single agency training. However, we are happy to offer support and guidance on what should be included within single agency training.
If you require further support, please contact safeguardingboardstraining@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Sways
Sways are multi-media resources that exist online and can be viewed at any time. We have developed sways for a wide range of topics related to safeguarding, and they may be used as a precursor to or supplement within training.
Our sways can be found here: https://www.safeguardingcambspeterborough.org.uk/home/virtual-briefings-sways/
